Dirt Road, Flying Chicken Dinner, Rural Provence

How wonderful driving with an open window along a rural road in Provence with the smell of lavender in the air and the horizon alight with colours of orange, pink and mauve..such a beautiful place and ....^*(*">(*^ What was that! Oh oh we kind of hit a chicken. It was hurled up and over and landed in the dust with a flutter behind our car.
We all got out of the car and gathered around. As we stood there in shock the farmer came out towards us and we wondered how he will react but he seemed more upset that his chicken got out and wondered onto the road then by the fact that we hit it.
We watched as the farmer picked up the lifeless bird and proceeded to walk back to his house waving to us with his free hand and exclaiming that this saved him the time and effort of killing the bird himself as chicken was on the menu for tonight anyway. Whew! No chicken police to take us away or a hefty fine or both.
